Package Deals

By Ronnie Rose

The first thing you should invest in is time on the Internet. Even if you already know where you're headed, you still need to find a package deal or the best deal you can. Often group and family discounts can be procured. You can save lots of money this way. You will probably pay up to 30% less if you buy your airplane tickets, lodging, and automobile rental all at one time as a package rather than purchasing them each separately.

Utilize the airport shuttle rather than hiring a driver or taxi. You will save a lot of money this way. Renting a car at the airport is much more expensive than a shuttle. Another way to save money is to pick a hotel that provides a shuttle at no charge.

One of the more expensive parts to a family vacation is the entrance passes. If you are heading to a place that requires entrance fees, take a look online to see if they offer discounts for certain days of the week or a discount for purchasing online.

You can often get circulars when you arrive at your hotel that provide information on things to do and see. These may contain coupons or tell you how to get discounts on restaurants, local attractions, and even souvenirs. Do not go through all the trouble to save money and then turn around and blow a fortune on souvenirs. Decide ahead of time how much you will spend. The best time to purchase souvenirs is as your vacation comes to a close so you know where you can get what you want at the best price.

For extended vacations that are in a single location, you might think about leasing a villa or condominium rather than staying at a hotel for the duration of the trip. The cost for a hotel for one week could equal the cost to rent a condo for two weeks. There are also many companies that offer house swapping, which means you would get your accommodations for free.

One of the worst ways to blow money is to buy your essentials when you get there. If you buy such things as sunscreen and shampoo at the hotel, you will probably pay many times the value of the product. Take your time in planning your trip by making a list of what you will need and checking it twice.
